Not necessarily. It takes time for the application to be processed and evaluated. Keep checking your Application Status for updates.

It’s been more than 2-4 weeks since I had sent in all my application for the secondary program and the website said that my application is ready for evaluation. Does the delay in the decision mean that I fair poorly in my application?

Hi Holmes, those are averages of successfully admitted students to the program, not the cut-offs to get into the program. Your average appears to be satisfactory, but please note that admission depends on how you compete against other applicants in your specialization. Hi L, usually we calculate the 3rd/4th year courses related to the teaching specialization. However, it depends on the specialization as well. I just want to confirm that the chart specifying average GPAs for B.Ed. acceptance for the last three years (which range from 73.33 to 76.98) are in fact averages and not the acceptance line, meaning students under that don’t get in.

My GPA is somewhere between 71% and 72.5%, but I also have three years of full time grade appropriate ESL experience and am a parent.

Am I competitive?

I understand that for the secondary education application process, UBC calculates the GPA of the courses for only courses for the major. Does UBC calculate the major only by the 3rd and 4th year level courses or do they calculate from 1st year courses to 4th year courses?

Hi Lisa, the minimum GPA requirement is 65%, which is C+ (64-67) at UBC. However, this is different from a competitive GPA; please see the Admissions Statistics on our website to find out more about competitive GPAs: http://www.teach.educ.ubc.ca/stepstoapply/requirements/selection_info.html.

What’s the GPA requirement for the secondary B-ED program this year? I have a 2.69 at the moment.
