Hi there, if I want to apply for the Secondary (mordern language) program, is there a deadline for late application?

Hi Paulina, there isn’t a deadline but please be aware that no admission seats are guaranteed for late applicants. We also recommend that you review the admission requirements thoroughly before you submit a late application. Modern Language applicants must also meet the requirements for a second specialization that is widely taught. Please see our website for a list of available specializations: http://www.teach.educ.ubc.ca/stepstoapply/requirements/academic_requirements.html.

I want to become a middle school teacher. I have a degree in music but I believe I need a Math, Canadian History and Geography to be eligible to apply. Can I apply to the university as an general student and take those courses as well as an education course? Or has the deadline passed? Or can I apply to the program directly and fulfil those requirements as I work on the certification?

Sarah,
You must complete all admission requirements before you can be eligible for the BEd program. Please see the academic requirements for the Middle Years option here: http://www.teach.educ.ubc.ca/stepstoapply/requirements/academic_requirements.html. Please note that we do not offer a Music specialization in the Middle Years option. For entry in September 2010, the application deadline is Feb. 15, 2010.

I would like to submit a late application for the Secondary program specializing in English. Is there a wait list in the event that an applicant withdraws from the program and a spot becomes available?
